cently, 5-weights moved into the “trout”
niche, and the trend toward lighter rod
weights is continuing. Today, we’re seeing
a lot more trout guys fishing 4-weights as
their every-day rods, and no shortage of
small-stream aficionados dropping down
to 3-, 2- and even 1-weights.
The reason for this migration toward
lighter rods is no mystery: fly rod technology
has progressed to the point that
