Flawless Series Rods
One of the new rod series you'll definitely
want to check out is the Flawless from
Diamondback. Billed as the "lightest physical
weight, highest performance and greatest value
fly rods we've ever offered, they set a new benchmark
for performance, cosmetics and value for
the Diamondback Rod Company.? This comprehensive
new series includes sixteen fresh and
saltwater models. All are 4-piece designs.
The nine freshwater rods range from an
8-foot 2-weight (2.3 oz.) to a 9-foot 6-weight
(3-9/16 oz.), and offer the "perfect blend of
speed, delicacy and control? that accomplished
trout anglers demand. Nine saltwater models
run the gamut from a 9-foot 6-weight (3.4 oz.)
up through a 9-foot 12-weight (5.1 oz.), and
cover every line weight in between. The new
flawless series retails for $229 to $239. See them

Lamson Konic Reel
Lamson's new bargain-priced Konic reels incorporate the same sealed, conical drag
systems and stainless steel roller clutches used in their premium reels. Konics will be
offered in four sizes spanning line weights 3 through 10, priced from $119 to $149
(extra spools $60 to $75).
Konic frames and spools are
pressure cast using molten
ALDC12 aluminum alloy
injected at 1,080 kgs. pressure
to ensure smooth,
consistent parts with
lower porosity than lowend,
gravity-cast reels.
Frames and spools are
cast as solid, single-part
pieces, then "skim cut? on
CNC machines to remove a
thin surface layer and provide
a finish comparable to fully machined
reels. Konic reels then get a 100% solid polyurethane coating to provide a very
gouge- and abrasion-resistant finish, rather than the weaker, electrostatic paints used to
finsih low-end die-cast reels. See them at Booth 565, or contact Waterworks-Lamson,
